Big milestone as Agreement signed in Kigali to improve faecal sludge management

A Project and Funding Agreement signing ceremony took place in Kigali, Rwanda between the East African Community represented by the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) and the Water and Sanitation Corporation (Rwanda) Ltd. (WASAC Ltd). The Kigali Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant Project is a High Priority Investment for Rwanda and will see the implementation of the Kigali Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant Project.

The event was not only a chance to inform participants about the LVB IWRMP activities and the positive impact this will have on Partner States, including Rwanda, but also to show how key stakeholders work in partnership with National governments, other Partner States, Development Partners EU and KfW, and experts to make a difference.  “This cooperation between LVBC and WASAC Ltd under the Lake Victoria Basin Integrated Water Resources Management programme (LVB IWRMP) will address water pollution risks and loss of critical ecosystems that support biodiversity,” said Patrick Karera, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Republic of Rwanda.
