Lake Victoria Basin Water Information System (LVB WIS)

A training programme implemented by Deltares from the Netherlands, for the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) took place virtually between December 2021 and January 2022. As a result, the Delft-FEWS system, which is a database application for water managers, has been established at LVBC, and forms a key component of the Lake Victoria Basin Water Information System (LVB WIS) Database Platform. Final preparations have been made for the procurement of services for the joint configuration of the Database Platform, in which two experts from each LVB Partner State will participate. This includes the Ministry of Water and Environment/International and Transboundary Water Affairs in Uganda (MWE/ITWA), the Ministry of Environment/Water Resources Board in Rwanda (MoE/WRB). In Tanzania, the Ministry of Water/Lake Victoria Water Basin Board (MoW/LVBWB ) and in Kenya the Ministry of Water Sanitation and Irrigation/Water Resources Authority (MWS&I/WRA).  Finally in Burundi the Ministry of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines (MHEM) and the Geographic Institute of Burundi (Institut Géographique du Burundi).

The joint configuration of the LVB WIS database will take place during 2022!
