The Lake Victoria Basin Integrated Water Resources Management (LVB IWRM) Programme marks International Day for Biological Diversity. The day aims to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity. Biodiversity Day 2021 is being celebrated under the slogan: "We're part of the solution #ForNature."
“Improving water quality through sustainable management in Lake Victoria is part of our solution to encourage a healthy variety of plant and animal life in the lake. That’s why we are planning investments in infrastructure that will reduce the pollution in the lake and the rivers flowing into it,” said Arsène Mukubwa, from the Programme Coordination Unit.
The Lake Victoria Basin Commission who are responsible for overseeing the Programme are committed to reducing effluents and pollution in the lake for future generations to come. Biodiversity remains the answer to sustainable development challenges.
